Myths about SEO

In the recent interview Laura Lippay, SEO Program Manager for Yahoo has been expressing concern about lack of education in the area of search engine optimization techniques. Quite often SEO propaganda headlines does not match with good skills and improved search engine results. Those are her words: "There always seems to be a lot of stuff going around that just does not have real proof to back it up. I do not really believe any of it until I can test it for myself. A lot of site owners, seem to think that all they need to do for SEO is slap a couple of keywords in a browser title and an H1 tag on their page and they will see results. The lack of education of SEOs and non - SEOs alike is disheartening sometimes. We still have a lot of work to do on the education front."

  2. Considering the average SEO Consultant can't even get it right I seriously doubt Laura Lippay's concerns will be addressed. I mean how many times have Yahoo been in the spotlight (cloaking, keywords stuffing, etc.) it's a joke.

It's so hipocritical. Exactly how have Yahoo addressed the divide. Oh that's right, they haven't.

I await the day when Laura Lippay puts out a seo guide that fully explains the process. I won't hold my breath.

Laura Lippay that is what SEO consultants do, keep it mystified and we'll all make more doh.

  3. I don't think it's surprising considering that there are many self-claimed SEO consultants who don't have a clue themselves about SEO.

What's worrying is that SEO is fairly new in certain countries (e.g. Asia) and these amataeur consultants are misleading the local companies and giving the rest in the SEO industry a bad name.

The first paragraph of Singapore SEO clearly illustrates the situtaion with the SEO industry in Singapore.
